Here are a few steps to help you plan your next tasting either in person or virtually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) First &#8212; Get Your Supplies:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Wine \u2013 at least two different ones<br \/>\n\u2022 Glasses for all who are attending in person<br \/>\n\u2022 Notepads and pens to write down tasting observations<br \/>\n\u2022 Water<br \/>\n\u2022 Snacks \u2013 think cheese and crackers<br \/>\n\u2022 Plenty of spaces for people to sit<\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Practice Tasting Wine:<\/strong><br \/>\nSpend about 20 minutes looking, smelling, seeing and tasting wine. Take a look at this <a href=\"https:\/\/winefolly.com\/episode\/the-wine-tasting-method-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">video<\/span><\/a> to help you understand the steps to tasting wine that you can share when leading your own tasting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3) Do a Comparative Tasting<\/strong><br \/>\nHere are a few different choices for such a tasting:<br \/>\n\u2022 Same Wine \/ Different Region \u2013 i.e. A Cabernet Sauvignon from France and one from California<br \/>\n\u2022 Same Wine \/ Different Winemaking Method \u2013 Chardonnay; one that is oaked and one that is unoaked<br \/>\n\u2022 Same Wine \/ Different Price Point \u2013 Does price matter? Try one under an agreed upon price point and one above that number for the same wine<br \/>\n\u2022 Different Wine \/ Same Style &#8211; Pick a wine style <span style=\"color: #800080;\">(<a style=\"color: #800080;\" href=\"https:\/\/winefolly.com\/deep-dive\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-wine-in-9-bottles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">see all 9 wine styles here<\/a><\/span>) and find a varietal wine within that style to learn what you might like<br \/>\n\u2022 Different Wine \/ Same Region \u2013 Pick a region like Napa or Tuscany and choose two wines that are from that area but made differently<\/p>\n<p><strong>4) Zoom\/Virtual Tasting<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you can\u2019t host one in person, make sure you let your audience know what comparative tasting type you are doing and what wines they will need to follow along online. Do advise them of having glassware available, water, snacks and a comfy place to sit to try the wines as well as having a pen and paper handy to write down notes that they have as they taste.
